MUSEUM EXHIBIT

The Palm Springs Art Museum is pleased to announce the opening of a new retrospective exhibit titled "Multicultural Modernism: The Work of Steven Ehrlich Architects".

The exhibit opens on November 11, 2006 and will run through April 15, 2007 during regular Museum hours.

This retrospective is an in-depth look at the 27-year history of the Los Angeles-based architectural firm. Including photographs, models and drawings of projects in the United States and around the world, the exhibition explores "Multicultural Modernism", the firm's distinctive design philosophy for creating meaningful architecture for the 21st Century. Citing the unique convergence of global factors that challenge today's architects, Design Principal Steven Ehrlich calls Multicultural Modernism "a vital and flexible architectural language that can respond sensibly, flexibly and with great exuberance to our increasingly urbanized, polyglot world."

The exhibit coincides with the release of the firm's fourth monograph, Steven Ehrlich Architects: Multicultural Modernism published by Images Publishing (2006), which will be available for purchase in the Art Museum Store throughout the length of the exhibition as well as bookstores nationwide.

Located downtown in an architecturally-significant E. Stewart Williams-designed building, the Palm Springs Art Museum features exciting contemporary exhibitions in spacious galleries, a sculpture garden, stimulating lectures and educational programs for all ages, and diverse performances in the 433-seat Annenberg Theater. The Art Museum is open six days a week; Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Thursday from noon to 8 p.m. Admission is free to members; $12.50 for adults; $10.50 for seniors 62 and over; $5.00 for children 6 to 17, students, and active-duty military with I.D. and free to children under 6.
